Whether you’re looking for feedback on a new concept, input for a marketing claims study or doing post-market surveillance, sometimes a large, international sample size is just what you need. In this case, online surveys are the easiest way to reach the people you want responses from quickly and efficiently. Use-Lab has the expertise and experience to support you from initial concept, over questionnaire design and implementation, pilot and pre-testing, and result collation through data analysis.
Designing the right questionnaire
The first step to a good questionnaire is figuring out what you want to know. Then, you can determine how to ask respondents to tell you what you want to know. Finally, you have to find the right way to present your questions to respondents and keep them engaged and focused to answer all of your questions. Use-Lab can help with each of these preparatory steps. We will accompany you in an iterative process to determine your high-level claims and break them down in to operationalized points that we can then convert into questions and questionnaire items. We will implement the items in an online tool and then launch the questionnaire.
Data collection and analysis
We have experience collecting data from specific, niche user groups as well as broad, international user groups in our surveys and will send out panel invites or targeted invitations based on your requirements.
Data will be gathered automatically and anonymously as respondents fill out the questionnaires. We will then collate data and analyze it for a comprehensive report. What our analyses look like, will depend on what you want to know. In any case we will present the data in a logical manner and evaluate the answers to your questions.
After you receive the data and analyses, you decide what happens next. Perhaps you write a marketing pamphlet or decide what size package to provide to future users. Of course we’re happy to support you during this part as well.

Remote testing
Remote studies allow you to collect valuable data from users near and far, without the need to travel. This saves time for you and your participants and also allows them to work in a comfortable and/or highly specialized environment – like their own operating room.
Is remote testing right for you?
Use-Lab will work with you to determine whether a remote study might be a good solution for answering questions you have about your product at its current stage in the development cycle. Remote studies work when you can get your device or prototypes to participants and they easily unpack and set the device up. Click dummies are also great for testing remotely.
Procedure of a remote study
Once participants have received your product, we can start the interviews to find answers to your questions The data we gather in a remote study can be objective or subjective, just like an in-person study. If needed, we may send participants special video equipment to use, or rely on their webcam or smartphone camera.
Remote studies naturally have their limitations. Some participants will be harder to access remotely, if they do not have the necessary technology – and even when that technology is present, it can take time to set up correctly. Also, it isn’t always possible to guarantee that the entire processes can be watched, so we need to focus on specific observations from specific angles. In many cases, however, it is a valid option and we’re happy to advise you on whether a remote study might be the way to go for your next project.
